Hello my dear friends! The first edition of the Integral Server Course is about to end and we couldn't be happier with its results. Good service is the ultimate key to the success of any gastronomic establishment and it is also the goal pursued by many of our trainees, eager to make a career in the sector.
It doesn't matter if a restaurant is more elegant or casual, or if its staff wears a tie or a shirt, a tuxedo or overalls... the fundamental principles of good service are universal. However, our classes not only talk about this aspect but also about the skills that allow you to connect directly with the client on a personal level, giving them a true culinary delight, a catalog of sensations and, ultimately, the kind of experience that will make them repeat over and over again.
It's a new era... Objective advertising has taken a backseat to direct referrals and online platforms where customers freely express their comments (good and bad), notes and suggestions. The client's reach is now unlimited, so there's really no time for bad publicity. Service is simply everything. So much so, that some people keep going to the same restaurants for years just for their great service rather than just for the food (regardless of how gourmet it is).

about proper restaurant etiquette and service.
According to the UK publishing group of the popular Michelin Guide there are five essential factors for success regarding restauration:
1. first and last impressions
This aspect highlights the importance of the first contact between the diner and the restaurant which, in these days, begins long before the premises are visited. With social media and the internet, customers can quickly check information about the site and its menu. Therefore, outdated information or a complicated booking platform can turn interested people away. Likewise, the specialists assure that when arriving at the establishment, courtesy and friendliness of the staff are essential. It's as basic as 'a warm and welcoming smile', they point out. On the other hand, they indicate that not only the welcome is important, but also the farewell (something often forgotten).
2. Loyalty is crucial
It is emphasized that every restaurant should try to convert its customers into regular and loyal visitors. However, this is a two lane road: nobody who considers himself a regular wants to be greeted with a 'have you been here before?' Building a sense of ownership between both parties is ideal.
3. The Right Team
Prioritizing that team members have the expertise, good attitude and disposition towards visitors helps a lot with great positive impressions. One of the most important tips for restaurateurs is to be attentive to who they hire to be part of their team. Bringing together people with a good attitude and a desire to learn can be the way to better connect with consumers.
4. Know your menu
Good service is characterized by the fact that absolutely everyone in the restaurant knows the menu and what is offered in the premises. If something is unknown, it is best to find the appropriate way to provide the information in a fast and friendly manner.
5. Just listen
Listening to the advice and recommendations of customers helps to improve. Hearing what diners have to say after each meal is something to consider in order to take the necessary course for success. Be receptive, be proactive, communicate well and keep learning.
Other important factors to take into account are:
- The restaurant's appearance and etiquette.
- The speed and precision of the service (the food should always arrive at the table at the right time).
- Attention to detail and to the client's specific needs.
- The menu, make it fun, inclusive and creative.
