Great Wines of the World Grand Tasting 2023 is almost hapenning. The event will present an extraordinary, JamesSuckling.com-curated selection featuring the wines of more than 300 of the best producers from the top wine regions in the world  — all hand-picked by JamesSuckling.com.

The two-day conclave will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center (1901 Convention Center Drive Miami Beach, FL 33139) on March 1st and 2nd, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM EST. There, attendees will be able to tour the world by tasting top-scoring wines, all of which were rated at least 92 points (with the majority scoring 95-98 points) and many of which made it onto the JamesSuckling.com Top 100 Wines of 2022 list. Celebrated owners and winemakers from iconic wineries will also be in attendance to share their valuable insights.

This is one of the USA’s best wine gatherings and a must-attend event for members of the wine industry and oenophiles to taste some of the most exciting wines currently made around the world. It always sells out weeks in advance, so hurry and secure your tickets  now!

The Wine Chaser will attend the event as part of Ventisquero's team led by Felipe Tosso, awarded Winemaker of the Year 2022 by Tim Atkins, another big name in the industry.

James Suckling, who has now four decades of experience as a journalist and a wine critic, reviews about 6,000-10,000 wines per year, and the website (jamessuckling.com) reviews about 18,000 per year. Mr. Suckling is also a former European editor for Wine Spectator magazine. He and his team use a rating system based on color, aromas, body, structure and overall impression. He performs mostly blind tastings. 95-100 means 'must buy', outstanding. 90-95 is still a great wine, should but it too. He focuses on the great wine areas of the world such as Italy, Bordeaux, Champagne, Australia, New Zealand, California, Chile and Argentina.

'I believe that today's wine drinker deserves more than just written reviews and criticism. They need to see with their own eyes the place, the people and the rating process. Truly, there's so much more to learn about wine than just simple numbers and prose.W e taste thousands of wines each month as well. Those on location are generally not blind, but we bring out the paper bags for the larger, more organized ones. We taste young wines for both the pleasure they give as well as their potential to improve with age. I was told early in my career that an outstanding quality wine must improve with age, and I have always believed this since. When rating mature wines, we put more emphasis on their current drinking pleasure. My team of editors follow the same wine reviewing criteria. Finally, I rate using the 100-point scale. I've used this point system for close to 40 years, and I still believe it's the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that we rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A). It's a wine we want to drink a glass of and is an outstanding purchase. If we rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy and a bottle that we want to drink in its entirety! If we rate a wine less than 88 points, it might still be worth buying but proceed with caution.'

Those interested can purchase tickets here! Without a doubt, if you love wine, this is an incomparable opportunity. We hope to see you there so that we can taste together the wonderful wines of Ventisquero Winery. After the event we will return with our impressions, stay tuned!

And that's a wrap for today! Have a happy rest of the week and... let's meet here next Wednesday again! Until then, Santé!
